LOVER OR HATER?

to love someone is to be a friend,
to stand by their side until the end,
hear their thoughts and see their dreams,
help to tighten all the seams,
you find the time to lend a hand,
some things in life just are not planned,
do the things you never thought you could,
and might start even knocking on wood,
you put their needs before your own,
when this is echoed you share the throne,
you get there first to hold the door,
an act you feel is never a chore,
your heart is warmed when their around,
and in your eyes a smile's found,
for pride is shed and you're just you,
seems natural yet is hard to do;
hating i've found is the easier way,
to ignore the world and get through a day,
sad but true we do it quite often,
become selfish pricks living life scoffing,
this pattern bombards us from every angle,
makes you want more and then it will strangle,
your heart and your mind,
until gone you will find,
but you'll still have your toys
you naughty girls and boys,
just no one to play with,
it's not only a myth,
hating is easy but comes with a price,
loving takes effort but feels so nice.
